DARREN’S ROOM:

A photo is torn into pieces and taped back up. It appears the bellhops were not actually identical twins, but quadruplets - all four of the brothers are standing right next to each other in the photo. Though they generally look a lot more disheveled and awkward in their teenage years, each of them are smiling, and have one arm over one another’s shoulders. They look like the perfect picture of family camaraderie…. Where did it all go wrong?

LEE’S ROOM:

Left scattered around are some pictures from the personnel holiday party, which judging by the paintings took place in the marble ballroom - a simpler time, before it became the Hazamagate Justice Pole Sexecution and before Sandra died. Things like Ciel bringing Sandra a cup of coffee with what is almost a smile, or a selfie with Darren who is looking depressed. In one of them, Sandra is wearing a Santa hat and a stunned expression that means it was obviously just tossed on seconds before the picture was taken. On the back of that picture, he’s grabbed a pink pen and written “Soon~”

CIEL’S ROOM:

The robot Sheepy from Keenan’s execution is in here for some reason. It’s in pretty bad shape, apparently having been stabbed multiple times in the face with one of Ciel’s kitchen knives (since there’s one still left right in what used to be her button nose.) She must have been pretty pissed about something to misuse a good knife like that….

SANDRA’S ROOM:

There's a sleek black notebook on the desk, a model recognizable as a product from the gift shop. Only the first three pages have actual writing on them.

The first table has four rows labelled D, KC, NL, and DP. There are several columns with Greek letters as labels, and then the numbers in each cell of the implied grid. Circles highlight the few numbers that are different from other rows, with adjacent asterisks leading to footnotes - D's numbers are highest relative to the others except in the beta column, and the corresponding footnote says that this could be remedied by "providing information". KC peaks in the alpha column; "perhaps check testosterone levels as well". NL has the lowest numbers with high mu; "need more context". DP is written in a shakier hand and has a high chi-value low for the other three rows; the footnote has underlined "IF EFFECTIVE use again". Some of the columns are low for everyone, like omega and nu.

The next page has 11 rows: CGM #1, CGM #2, and so on, with a similar array of Greek letters on the columns. Almost all the numbers in this table are lower than the first table, though omega and nu are a little higher. CGM #1, #2, #3, #5, #6, #8, and #9 have little dots adjacent.

The last page compares the results of the first two tables; the analysis seems to be a statistically sound one reinforced with residuals, negatives and positives and notes like "distressed by motive also"… but why would she write this by hand when she presumably had a perfectly good computer?

ELECTRA’S ROOM:

On the desk there are several items. The first are a pair of photos. Both of them are Electra and the girl she had killed. In both of the pictures they look incredibly happy. The first appears to be a graduation photo. The other seems to be taken in a dressing room. On the back of each are neatly written stamps. ‘So long beauty school’ and ‘First day on the job!’ are written on the respective photographs along with a name. Next to the photos are pages of correspondence. They offer a glimpse into a childhood friendship and a dream to shared -- that one day they would touch the fashion world in an exciting and innovative way. Silly childish declarations gave way to proper letters to a diploma and then again to one last letter. It describes Ada’s feelings about what the so-called “sleep study” really was and her final feelings about her dearest friend. This letter is far more worn than any of the others, as if it had been held very dearly many times. The natural color is dotted and blotted with spots-- tears that had fallen onto it during those times. Last is a small diamond-shaped red and gold pendant. It can be seen in all of the photos as well, around Ada’s neck. On the gold that framed it was an engraving of the word ‘Best’. Likewise, Electra seemed to have had one in the pictures as well. A blue and silver heart. One can only imagine they were once a matching set.

GYM TRAINERS’ SHARED ROOM:

There is a series of thumbtack marks in one wall of the kitchenette. Judging by the circular hole in the piece of paper that had fallen underneath the minifridge, bulletins used to hang there. It's covered in two separate handwritings - angular or heavy and curved.

Maybe the self defense lessons aren't as pointless as I thought if they're going to keep wailing on each other outside of the cases. Kneecap kick?
Top Dollar can seriously put up a fight! Not again before next week though. If I have to stop, so do you.
Yuri is so strong, could row.
Can Darren "get" more weights after this is over? Probably. Hammer home "perks"
Two sets of three laps better than one set of five, gym too small.

BARTENDER’S ROOM:

The bartender has a blackmail letter very similar to Electra's. He didn't bring photos with him, but it seems he also killed someone he wasn’t meaning to - their name doesn’t seem familiar, but the letter has been crumpled up at the edges several times. It must have meant a lot to him.

All else aside, there are a few select bottles of alcohol in here. High quality stuff. And for some reason he has a shelf of gunpla as well. Guess he was just a sad nerd.

EXTRA ROOM 1:

There are photos of several of the participants, each with a note attached written in identical handwriting. The notes pertain to each participant’s candidacy as a fashion model, such as appreciation for several of the girls’ figures and outfits, or perhaps her radiant smile in the case of Estelle. Shelley is "the requisite redhead" and "naturally charming." Cirno and Aki are “adorable”. Top Dollar’s hair, Hazama’s taste in hats and the way Mikami fills out a nice suit get mentions, as well as Sawatari’s stage presence. Sting and Dio are spoken highly of in looks with a side note of how “We must help them” pick out clothes. Everyone who had been a part of the experiment gets a mention, though there is no talk anywhere of their capabilities for murder. Instead, they seem to go on about some kind of modeling competition. All of the photos were taken outside of the hotel as well, so they don't seem to have taken place during the experiment. More like some paparazzi snuck into their world.

EXTRA ROOM 2:

A small book with quite some pages torn out, except for a few that remain legible. Looks beat up but the writing is quite legible-

I didn’t think that the time would come where I’d see myself looking at the remains of a great company that once was. The first day I entered into Dressing Inc’s employment, I’ll admit, I saw myself as someone who’d be able to reap the benefits of such employment, even well into the future. There were friends I made, advances into even higher opportunities into the company that I didn’t see coming. All the same, when the time was coming where the company’s practices altered and became...different from the beginning, I turned a blind eye to it. I wasn’t the only one either, thinking it wouldn’t come to be a problem.

After all that is said and done, I think I should’ve spoken up then. Or at least turned down some of the crazy ideas that went into making certain products we could’ve done without. All that time and money wasted...maybe it is no surprise that there will likely be nothing left once someone buys the company. Or if someone does for the record.

I wonder, what type of future will this mean for us now?

Congratulations Yeager! I knew I could rely on you to decipher my code. Just remember not to share the key, hm?

Now for the actual information...

You recall what I told you about death, do you not? It should come as no surprise to you then that this place isn't much different. I doubt you'll be surprised that the good doctor is this incompetent but :).

In short: I have it on solid intel that death here isn't permanent. In fact, the gunner(s) have been acting as such as a way of payment, with the promise of resurrection at the end of the experiment. It's a tad complicated, but just look at it as another experiment focusing on revival that's running parallel to the murder one. Dr. Chavez knows none of this of course, and it's best to keep her in the dark lest she get another terrible idea to restrict us.

One more thing: keep an eye on Miss Yukino, would you?

Hi~ It's Lee.

[You can almost imagine the sigh that comes before this.]

We probably have some explaining to do, right? This motive, we didn't expect things to go this way. You know that the personnel are in danger too right? It's not like Dr. Chavez to do this. There's no reason for you to believe me, but I had to say it. Darren and I have been hit pretty hard, so I'm just holed up with my computer.

I'm not that bad yet, but if I play hooky, it means I won't need my staff key for a while~ I hid it somewhere safe. If we die, my program's sending you the location. Then you can pick it up and continue our work... you're the only one we told about our brothers. I'll make sure to leave behind what you need to talk to Adámas and the other moles.

...We're at least confident that someone is planning to kill for this motive. So you shouldn't have to worry about your friends much longer. Hang in there miss~

Week 0

Friday Evening

[On Friday, the tablets come on at five in the afternoon, with an audio announcement from Sandra Chavez.]

Participants, good evening. Please consider joining me at 8 this evening in the ballroom. I'll be making a video recording available for those of you who only decide later that you're interested in this information. Attendance is at your discretion, but I'm sure at least some of you will find this content interesting.

[True to her word, there's no strong recommendation this time - you have to actively tap the tablet again if you want to make the message replay. At the appropriate time in the ballroom, the position of honor is occupied by a glass case...]

Ground Floor

Lobby

Though none of the participants in the experiment came into the hotel through the entrance, there is a front door. Automatic glass doors part and grant entrance to a small area before what looks like a second pair of automatic glass doors; however, they do not move, being bound by an enormous golden lock. The glass is bulletproof, much like the windows on the higher floors of the building.

The ceiling here is easily twice as high as anywhere else in the building, to the point of highlighting the outline of rooms on the first floor. One enormous golden chandelier occupies the center of the ceiling. Two smaller silver chandeliers dot the north and south. More of the open lobby space, populated by potted plants and couches, is on the east side, including a self-playing piano and a bronze-plated globe of the world about six feet tall with the capitals of the countries in little diamond studs.

Set into the east wall is a trio of elevators - looks ordinary enough, if fancy, with shiny golden doors that open when you press the call button. However, the controls inside are slightly different: the elevator will not move until a card key is inserted into a slot, and only to floors that card key has gained access to. The interior is decorated with mirrors.

In front of the elevator are several luggage carts, the metal golden and the padding a deep brown. There’s a front desk in deep wood, though no concierges show themselves, and the telephones get no signal. An unlocked door behind the desk leads to the mail room. There are several iron slots, mail chutes, and drawers of various sizes. On a table are paper, marker, envelopes, stamps, and cardboard that can be folded into boxes.

Ballroom

These two large rooms sit on either side of the hotel - one with marble flooring, the other The hardwood-floored ballroom on the west side of the hotel is set up for a party. The room is softly lit with the decorative lamps lining the walls, that resemble origami creatures and can be dimmed or brightened. Most of the floor is cleared for dancing, but there are cushioned benches against the walls. 8 round dining tables that seat 5 people each are lined up away from the dance floor, with a buffet table parallel to them. On the opposite side of the room, there’s a large, unlit fireplace, and a few soft chairs bunched around in the corners for sitting and chatting. A large ceramic vase contains pokers, each in a unique shape, such as a golf club or a naginata.

Public Baths

The door for the public baths soon leads to a second pair of doors. The door on the left leads to the female section, the right door to the male section. A thin hallway leads to another door: Here's a thin changing room. Towels are on a long shelf. In the middle is a long bench. There is a rack with clothing hangers. On the floor underneath the rack are drawers, where pale yellow robes are available.

The baths themselves are available through a second door. On the walls, there are over fifty showering areas; a low stool sits below a moveable shower head, in front of a shelf with a large mirror and several hygienic products. Most of the floor space is consumed by a large square bath, very warm, less than three feet deep, with a sitting area built into the edge. In the corner of the room is a second smaller bath filled with cool water. The walls have sections that at first appear to be windows but are in fact panelled paintings.

While the layout of each section is identical, the aesthetics and scents of the female section are more sweet and flowery, while the male section has a more rustic, forest type feel.

Gym & Pool

Through the east hall is a private gym, floored with wood and densely-packed with equipment. Intense music plays loudly over a wall speaker, suddenly turning on intimidatingly when someone enters the room - during the morning and afternoon, there are even personal trainers who will help you get pumped, and might even offer a friendly tip or two about killing! Bench presses line the far wall, with a power cage in the corner and a rack of barbells for use between them. In the other corner on that wall, there’s also a few shelves for dumbbells. A row of treadmills sits in the middle of the room with a bit of space around them, and on the near wall there’s a door leading to the field, a couple of lat machines and a pull-up bar. There’s also a more spacious area on that side with a stack of mats and three stability balls, and beyond that is the door leading into an area with a small shower room on one side and a locker room on the other. There are vending machines with water bottles between the two. The lockers are tall, with PIN pads on the front that can used to easily lock a locker with a PIN number of the user’s choosing. One is already locked.

Beyond that area is the door to the pool. The floor in this room is made of decorative tile, and a medium-sized pool stretches across its center. It’s a fairly standard pool with a shallow end of 3 feet and a deep end of 5 feet, but it’s long enough to do a lap and the water is sparkling clean and very refreshing in the heat. There’s also a jacuzzi across from the pool for some post-workout bubbly relaxation. The room is soundproofed, so that people may swim or soak in peace without hearing any disturbance from the gym or field.

Clear doors open into the racquetball court, a long room with shiny wood floors. The markings are already set up on the floor to divide the room for the players, but a storage room to the side has spare tape if needed. This is also where the rackets and balls are stored - along with a few other kinds of sports. There's a small basket of volleyballs and a net - it's possible to play "wallyball" or simply practice serves.

First Floor

Rooms

You wake up close to the ground in a thin futon, wearing unfamiliar pajamas, next to a (probably) unfamiliar person in another futon beside you. The only other things in the room are a shoji-screened window, a folded-up folding screen, and a short dresser with a 10” TV set on top and two drawers - one has your clothes from home, the other, your “roommate’s.” No other items you were carrying can be found - instead there is a card key and a tablet displaying the rules. Your shoes, however, are lined up at a threshold by the door, as if you’d taken them off yourself to sleep in this room. There’s also a bathroom behind a sliding door with a simple washlet and a sink.

The hotel in general is rather stuffy and miserable, as it seems there is no air conditioning in any of the bedrooms and halls, and attempts to open a window will reveal that they are all sealed tightly with bulletproof glass.

If you should happen to open the folding screen (and you might want to, to change clothes), you'll see designs of either a tiger, a bird, a tortoise or a dragon. Across the screen, there is a message painted on in ink:

"Let’s meet again in the nightmare that promised dreams. It is waiting for you, dear dolls."

It is written across both sides. But the content of the message isn't the only creepy thing about it. The handwriting is identical to someone you know - the person most important to you back home. Likewise, the handwriting on the other side is identical to your roommate's special person, and the same message. Strange indeed.

Convenience Store

Glass automatic doors slide apart, leading into the little convenience store. Three freestanding shelves in the middle are stocked with dry food, crackers and instant noodles and fruit chews. The left wall is occupied by chilled shelves of sandwiches, rice balls, and other savory foods best preserved cold. A horizontal display freezer box in the back corner contains ice cream novelty products. The back wall is occupied by refrigerator cabinets of beverages. The cash register counter is parallel to the right wall, so the last cabinet of beverages - alcoholic ones - is behind the counter. On racks underneath the counter are small products like chewing gum and candy bars, lighters and pocket knives. Behind the counter are cigarettes.

Gift Shop

A single swinging glass door separates the gift shop from the hallway. The ceiling isn't much larger than the chandelier, a silver and angular fluorescent structure. In the middle of the room is a freestanding set of white plastic shelves, containing some of the more practical wares, such as pencils, calendars, notebooks, and disposable cameras. On the left are unlocked glass display cases containing delicate knick-knacks, porcelain dolls and glass animals and what have you. In the back left corner the display gives way to other items: handkerchiefs, posters, towels. The back wall has a rack where several types of swimsuits are hanging; all are covered the same deep brown with the golden E&V logo. Baseball caps are on a shelf above the rack. Underneath this display are some transparent plastic drawers containing folded T-shirts. In the back right corner is a cabinet with more sundry products: teas, perfumes, bath salts. The cash register is on the right too. Behind this counter is the big machine where a disposable camera may be dropped off in exchange for photos developed within one hour.

Restaurant & Kitchen

The hotel’s restaurant is the only air-conditioned room on the first floor. It is decorated with a natural wood theme and filled with small tables for two, as well as a handful of booths. A single chef, an older woman wearing a detached expression, appears to be the only staff member. The kitchen is located behind a bar stocked with wines, where she usually waits. The service can be a tad slow, but the food is rather delicious. Her specialty appears to be French and Quebecois cuisine, though there is a “kids menu” with things like burgers or macaroni. (Any non-kids who are ordering off this menu will receive the slightest hint of a judgmental look…)

When the chef is off duty, the kitchen is open to be used by whoever pleases in the afternoon. It looks streamlined and commercial, all in stainless steel - counters, ovens, dishwashing machine, reach-in coolers and freezers, trash compactor, and of course a variety of laminated steel kitchen knives in a rack. Atop the counters, breads, glass containers of bulk spices and most essential appliances can be found, and the fridge is stocked with fresh ingredients. The freezer has the kids menu stuff, plenty of extra fish and some pre-made goods like ice creams, soups or fries.

Second Floor

Rooms

When you enter a bedroom there is a threshold with slippers which you are expected to swap your shoes with - they are perfectly sized to all residents, but otherwise identical, in the same colors as the wing they’re located in. A shoji-screened bulletproof glass window faces the outside, and two cotton futons are already laid out side by side on the tatami flooring. They are more comfortable than the previous floor’s futons, being thicker for more support and covered with a modernized fabric that keeps the bedding cooler. Against one wall is a standing wardrobe with a small assortment of clothes that seem to have been perfectly tailored to its guests. There is a short table with cushions to sit around it and a 24” TV on a stand. A sliding door leads to the bathroom, which has a simple washlet, sink and a small tub with a shower and curtain. Each room is soundproof.

Just a meter or two away from the threshold, the carpet of the hotel hall gives way to a platform of raised planks. Up here are some great cabinets where you'll find nice shelves for your shoes, interesting dress-up clothes, and supplies for brewing tea. A few benches line the rest of the planks, which form a walkway, shaped like a figure eight.

In the first rectangular walkway-surrounded area, there is a vast pool of off-white gravel with a couple of big, mossy boulders for flavor.

The second rectangle is full of grass. At each of the four corners is a different formation of plants: Cherry blossom and plum blossom trees; chinese trumpet vine and hibiscus shrubs; bushes of holly and maple trees; pine trees and dwarf jade plants.

There's a button on the wall that you can press for a wind to dramatically scatter the petals and leaves.

Teahouse

The recreation room on this floor is surrounded by glass walls, with supportive pillars of painted red wood. The door is also made of glass. Just a meter or two away from the threshold, the carpet of the hotel hall gives way to a few steps for a platform of raised planks.

Up here are some great cabinets where you'll find nice shelves for your shoes and interesting dress-up clothes. A few benches and little tables line the rest of the planks, which form a walkway, shaped like a blocky figure eight.

In the middle is a little pond, the water circulating from an artificial waterfall. There are no fish. There's a button on the wall that you can press for a wind to dramatically scatter the petals and leaves.

The ceiling looks reasonably like a sunny blue sky during the day, and a dark starry sky at night.

In the northeast corner, a sliding door rises out of the planks leading to a little tearoom. There are four mats on the floor arranged in a rectangular spiral; mounted in the middle of the central square space is a fire pit. There is an alcove in the wall where a cat is painted on a hanging scroll, and red spider lily flowers are in a basket. Nearby are the sliding drawers where several types of tea are available along with supplies such as cups and kettles.

Third Floor

Rooms

floor. Some of the hotel rooms are identical to the futon bedrooms on the second floor, except there’s a closet instead of a wardrobe, ashtrays sitting here and there, and the window lacks the screening - instead it has venetian blinds, but the window still won’t open. The bathroom has a washlet with an auto-lifting seat and a large shower. There are also additional fashionable outfits in the wardrobe and silky pajamas.

The other rooms are more “romantic” - the wings feature deep colored rooms with the same kind of bathroom and windows but more western-like heart-shaped queen beds for two. Despite their unusual shape, the beds are nothing too special technology-wise: they are merely spring beds with a lot of bounce. Behind the bed there is a speaker that can play music. It has a sultry CD by default, but there are a handful of others in one of the two nightstand drawers, which have ashtrays on top. Across from the bed is the TV on a stand, and there’s a kitchen area with a mini-fridge, a microwave and a small counter with a coffee pot and silk roses in a black glass vase. There’s a closet for clothes across from the bathroom containing even more fashionable, specifically-tailored clothes and/or lingerie. Just like the ones identical to the second floor, they're soundproof inside.

Karaoke/AV Room

This room is dimly lit with fluorescent bulbs that snake around the ceiling in engaging patterns. Flickering neon figures are mounted on the walls, which are painted black like the wood planks comprising the floor. A few round tables and chairs, made of silvery material and high off the ground, fill out the space, providing not much more seating than the bar that dominates the south side of the room.

The north side of the room has three doors. Each door leads to a karaoke room, with a monitor and speakers and a computer with a touchscreen and a keyboard and a remote control. There are three cordless microphones and one corded microphone with a stand. There are several thousand songs in the database, which seems consistent enough with 2016 Earth. A section for "new releases" has about a hundred songs; even the most fantastically alien of residents will find at least one of these to be familiar. There's a low table in the middle of the room, with printed song books: one sorted by title, one sorted by artist. These do not contain the "new releases". Cushioned benches line the walls. These rooms are soundproofed, so your singing will face no outside interruptions.

There's a large shelf of DVD cases with numbered stickers on the spines. The cases are empty. On the west side of the room are six doors. Each leads to a small room containing a sofa and a monitor. The video plays automatically. Headphones in several different styles, wired or wireless, as well as stereo or surround speakers, are available.

Over the bar is mounted a large plasma TV. This is connected to a computer on a cash register counter near the bar. The computer is also what actually activates the monitors in the private viewing rooms, with the numbers on the DVD boxes as a more quickly typed alternative to physical insertion of DVDs. The bar has stools. Inside the bar is a variety of liquors. There’s a bartender here. He’s not much for conversation, and occasionally appears nervous of his guests. Close to the bar there is a jukebox with a more limited selection of songs just for listening to at the bar. Across the front of the jukebox are buttons representing letters of the alphabet and buttons representing numbers - songs correspond to the letters and numbers, such as I-8 for It’s Not Unusual or W-3 for What’s New, Pussycat?

There is a freestyle machine that dispenses several soft drinks, such as acerola and lemonade. Another vending machine has glass over the shelves where several smoking products are lined up.

Behind the bar is a steel door leading to a kitchen. There is a dishwasher, a high-mounted cabinet for dishes, a large sink where it's easy to wash dishes, some chemicals under the sink, and a smaller sink where it's easier to just wash your hands. There is also a large microwave oven, and a medium freezer containing frozen, microwaveable bar-appropriate finger-food, like chicken tenders or french fries or edamame. There is another door leading to a restroom.

Fourth Floor

Capsule Hotel

There's an array of capsules on the wall, like a capsule hotel, six to a row. Across from the capsules are lockers. Both the capsules and the lockers look like they would open with your card key, if only you were assigned a specific one. Public restrooms are down the hall. They don’t have showers. Still, there are some very basic hygienic products free for use laid out and in cabinets.

A room stocked with the supplies for the rest of the hotel. In the back corner, there’s a massive stack of packaged toilet paper rolls. A wide variety of cleaning agents are stored in here, along with mops and brooms, and the janitorial carts. They also have a lot of spares for the complimentary items such as soap, shampoo, or towels. Predictably, the custodians can be found stopping in here from time to time. Beyond that is a small kitchen, more communal than professional, with a single stove and small, square table with three chairs. A single colander, pot, and pan are in a cupboard, and there’s a microwave. There's a sink with hand soap and dish soap, but no dedicated dishwashing machine. The food stocked in here is just some packages of dry spaghetti in the cabinet. The fridge and freezer are a single unit, tomato sauce in the fridge down below and TV dinners in the freezer up top. There is no silverware, not even the type of disposable plasticware found in the convenience store.

Laser Tag Arena

Large white fluorescent lights hang from the ceiling in the small waiting area painted deep purple. There are a few benches, as well as a vending machine with sodas and juices and drinks high in electrolytes. Sleek metal trash cans sit in front of the restrooms. A monitor is mounted on the wall, displaying the rankings of the most recent game.

Two sets of double doors lead to an equally small room with a raised set of layered benches. When more than a few people enter at once, the wall-mounted monitor will begin to play a video (approximation). There is also a manual button on the side of the monitor to play the video again.

A single door leads into the room where about fifty vests and associated rifles hang from the racks. Three separate doors (one for each team: red, blue, green) lead into the actual laser tag arena.

The arena is an elaborate maze, of deep purple walls and ramps, where each of the three teams has a “secret base” that can be attacked by the other team for points. For the most part, the only lighting in this maze are black lights. The other most notable feature is that hidden in the middle of a maze is a flight of stairs leading to a projection room. Here you can skip around the EDM soundtrack and announce to the players that it’s time for sudden death.

Fifth Floor

Rooms

The festive spirit got into someone for this floor. Each room fits the aesthetic of a cozy log cabin, with deliberately crafted log-like textures on the walls and flooring, and all the fabric is red-trimmed. The beds are large and deep, and have thick quilts decorated with various kitschy wintry patterns. A few of them even have fake fireplaces with plastic flames and a plug, and no chimney to speak of. Next to each bed is a hot water dispenser with a festive mug and a box of instant hot cocoa packets. The kind that comes with little marshmallows. And on every pillow is a standard candy cane. The closets come equipped with a variety of adorable kigurumi with matching fluffy slippers, as well as glittery, skintight outfits of arguable tastefulness. They resemble... ice skating costumes?

The windows are darkened and lined with fake frost, to give the impression of a perpetual snowy winters' night. And dimly, throughout the floor, comes the constant, faint sound of... holiday songs. There is no obvious way to make it stop. The residents will only be blessed with silence at curfew.

Past the rooms, the hallway curves away, with suspicious colorful lights playing over the walls and floor from somewhere. The music, also, gets louder the closer you get.

Ice Rink

Past a nondescript door is a large, rectangular ice rink. The lights and music are coming from here, and as soon as the door opens it becomes clear that the music is loud. It's a single large, bright, white room with the rink at the center, and along the walls are lockers stocked with skates and hockey equipment, for those inclined to play a game or two. A couple of doors adjacent to the initial walkway lead to changing areas, where collapsible nets can also be found.

Above the lockers, nearer the ceiling, flash fluorescent, colored bulbs to give the place even more of a holiday feel, as if the incessant caroling piped in from somewhere wasn't enough. The rink itself is clean and flawless, looking like it's never been used before, and is surrounded by a low half-wall to help the inexperienced keep their balance.

Sixth Floor

Rooms

At long last, the bedroom seems like it belongs in a normal hotel, with firm and simple spring beds and decor in the colors of their wing. The actual upgrade seems to be in the quality of things in the room. There are nice paintings on the walls, and the sheets have a nicer feel - possibly silk. There are real flowers in the vases this time, which are decorated with the wing’s patron insect and different depending on the wing.

Scarab vases have edelweiss, Cricket’s have queen of the night tulips, Ladybug has spotted tiger lilies, and Scorpion has delphinium.

The vases sit on a desk, next to a bowl of wrapped candies. The kitchen area has a similar mini-fridge, microwave and coffee pot to the other floor, but it also has a mini-bar under the fridge containing assorted liquors - though if the room’s resident is underage, or someone who otherwise shouldn’t be drinking, or someone the bellhops are trolling - they’ve been replaced with bottles of melon cream fanta and strawberry ramune.

These rooms also have nicer bathrooms, with a normal sized bathtub/shower combo, fluffy towels and a bathrobe. In addition to auto-lifting, the washlets have the heating features for a more comfortable tush.

Manga Cafe

There is also a manga cafe. Racks of bookshelves full of manga line the walls, ready and waiting to fill you with the great knowledge of 2-Dimensional fantasy universes. There are tons of comfortable chairs to sit and read in, with little side tables to place drinks and snacks on between each of them. There’s a front desk - look behind it, and you’ll find there are CD players with headphones as well as a collection of CDs to borrow. This can range from “good concentration music” to “anime original soundtracks”. In the back, there’s a large glass door - go through that and there’s a game room of sorts. A single table each for ping pong, air hockey, and pool are spread out. There’s a shelf with many interesting board games, such as Mahjong.

The very back has a row of slot machines, and one other kind of strange feature - a wide plastic tube coming from the ceiling that stretches down just above the floor, where there's an opening that appears to fan out like the bottom of a slide. But where is the top of the slide? Should someone very determined climb inside the slide all the way up to the height of the ceiling, what they will find is a grated barricade, behind which the tube continues before curving around a corner. The paper label over the barrier says to “Keep out.” This is likely advisable by the rules, but how strange…

Seventh Floor

Rooms

The bedrooms on this floor are fewer, but family-sized suite rooms. Entering past the threshold from the door, there is a small sitting room 1with a sofa, coffee table and a widescreen TV in a simple entertainment center. Set into the wall shared by the hallway is a kitchenette, including a refrigerator and a stove with a coffee pot. The exterior wall has a glass window with a view of the beach.

In another room separated by a door is a combination of 2-3 twin or double beds, with bedding featuring beloved children’s characters. The beds have a firm base that discourages bouncing, but are covered with a pillowy-soft topper. It is detachable if preferred.

On one wall of the bedroom, there is a mirror stretching over a counter with a sink, toothbrushes and soap at its side. Next to those is the door to the bathroom. It has a regular washlet and large tub - a basket of complimentary bath bombs rests on its edge. .

Play Room

On the same floor is what can only be described as a play area, the kind you find at fast food restaurants or in the kiddie area of theme parks. In one corner is a coin-operated animal ride in the shape of a rabbit wearing a changshan, and with an odd design painted on its face. On the opposite side of the room is a large, plastic, brightly-colored jungle gym that leads to a ball pit surrounded by netting for climbing on. An adjacent room contains an arcade, complete with shooting games, crane games, whack-a-mole, and really any kind of impossible-to-win machine game you can imagine.

At the end of the hallway that makes up the main part of the floor is a small arch with what looks like a strange plastic tunnel beyond it. It seems to curve downward and out of side into a spiral, and it's right above the matching tunnel downstairs in the manga cafe--yes, this is the top of the slide that exits to the lower floor! And if one bothers to take it, they'll find that the grate at the end is now gone. The slide is open for business.

Eighth Floor

Rooms

These are the most luxurious rooms yet. Each has it's own sitting area which includes a massage chair with five different settings as well as options for heat. There's also a small coffee table with old magazines. The room also includes a kitchenette-- three cup coffee maker, two-burner stove top, mini fridge and various cabinets for storage are all included as well as a small area for food preparation.

The beds themselves are plush Queens-- down comforters and pillows as well as a layered memory-foam mattress make it a nice place to sink into after a stressful day.

But the crowning feature is the jacuzzi style bathtub.

Ballroom Strip Club

The marble-floored ballroom has a number of chairs lined up to view a runway - there’s spotlights above it that can be turned on with a switch alongside the switch for bright lights in the room. When all of the lights are on, you can view beautiful paintings that are hung up on each of the walls. Or that's how it used to be. Now, the runway hosts six poles that pulsate to the sound of music, which is played over a brand new sound system that anyone can DJ. The spotlights have been replaced with some darker mood lighting, that goes better with the new decor - which basically amounts to an ungodly amount of chains, pretty much everywhere, and a neon sign on the wall that reads "The Hazamagate Justice Pole Sexecution". The chairs still face the runway, but now beneath the runway there is a button you can push to summon a bunch of animatronic strippers. They seem to be re-outfitted execution bots, but all the same, they dance and wear leather. They're pretty good at it too!

Spa

Beauty is meant to find it's greatest potential here. In any way you want to be pampered and prettified-- you can do it here. One counter hosts rows and rows of nail polishes as well as other essential nail care products. Another is full of hair products. Dyes, shampoos, conditioners, mousse... anything you can imagine doing to your hair can be done here.

The waiting area is a row of chairs in front of a long table. It’s filled with beauty magazines covering all kinds of hot looks from hairstyles to the “in” colors of the season to the outfits that everyone’s dying to get their hands on.

There are also a set of tanning beds, with instructions posted on the wall next to the machines. You're free to use them as you please, however-- do use them responsibly.

You're not on your own either. It's run by one of the hotel's staff-- Electra. A genius where beauty is concerned. If you have questions, she's got answers, but don't blame her if she's ready to tell you the ugly truth.

Ninth Floor

Rooms

The staff bedrooms come with King beds, covered with the finest bedding and comfort-adjustable with a remote control - on the bedroom wall overlooking them, there’s a wide plasma TV and DVD players. They have a nice couch and sitting room with a coffee table and a desk, a similar kitchenette to the one on the previous floor, the same jacuzzi bathtub and the massage chair. The major difference, besides beds of course, is that these rooms actually look lived in. Personal effects have mostly been removed, but it certainly seems they did belong to someone…

Mingle Room

A large room full of small tables and chairs, that looks just like a break room at a company. There are computers set up on a desk stretching along the back of the room - a router makes it look like they had the internet, but service is currently shut down. There are plenty of vending machines - one dispenses cupcakes for the usual price. The room is split in half with a screen door - if it is pulled open, there is also a rectangular table with more chairs that looks more suited to holding a conference.

Control Room

There’s a rather large door that is labeled the Control Room. It's lock has been shot out, and now it can be accessed.

Immediately catching the eye is a huge wall of monitors, showing the many rooms of the hotel from various angles, the computer tower that goes to all of this, and the panel of buttons that controls the cameras and doors. A plush red leather desk chair is placed before it, seeming a bit like a throne. Sitting on top of it is a briefcase, locked with a 4-wheel combination lock. Each wheel of numbers on the lock is a different color: the first number is yellow, the second green, the third red and the fourth a dark blue.

Lining the opposite wall nearest the door are several more large computer towers, interconnected. They are not connected to a monitor, so their purpose is unclear, but on top of them rests wireless broadcasting equipment, and they seem to be turned on and working away.

As soon as a participant enters this room, they will get a splitting headache that stays with them until a few minutes after they leave.

If you get into the computer, it seems that this was indeed the central control station. Immediately open are controls for the cameras, allowing you to see the entire hotel, as well as the option to send the data to USBs - currently turned off, but there are plenty of spares for the first set of weeks that could help you review everything that had happened. It may also be possible to go digging to see if you can find anything major.

There are also the commands for card access - which rooms a card can get into, which floors the elevator will let them go to, and etc. You can easily find all of the participant’s cards here, and see that they are currently granted access to the nine floors and their own room. There are the 3 permanent room keys, which have access to the inactive rooms in addition to this. There is the staff key, which has access to every room including active ones. And then, curiously, there are 3 more listed as “spare” which have the same settings as the permanent room key. There are commands to change access, but they are currently set to “AUTO: via proxy system.” Changing the setting is password protected.

The commands for activating the sleeping punishments can be found with some digging. Also “AUTO: via proxy system.” and password protected. The command to poison everyone, though, is nowhere to be found. There doesn’t seem to be anything on the mail room in here either.
